Mid level receivers

I have seen reviews on the RX-V2700 calling it a mid level receiver. What do reviewers consider high end? Is it based on price? Features? Number of gold plated contacts :) ?

Yamaha makes a couple of more expensive models and a few less expensive models. This one is somewhere in the middle. From what I see on their website, the 2700 is still their most advanced as far as new features, (HDMI, upscalling etc)

Here is their link. http://www.yamaha.com/yec/avreceivers/rxv_rxz.html?CTID=5000300

And where have you seen reviews on the Yamaha RX-V2700? I still haven't seen one yet :(

Very good question. Perhaps I read a brief product description and not an actual review. CNET did a brief review, but I tend to ignore CNET reviews.

They're not bad really, IMHO...just not in-depth enough. I think they're great for the n00b who knows just enough to be dangerous :D :D
