Looks like MFSL will not stop with Surfer Rosa from The Pixies, but are readying "Doolittle" for release as well.

I love "WHere is my Mind" but don't like enough of Surfer Rosa as a whole to pick it up on SACD. Doolittle was a far more put together album with incredible tracks like "Wave of Mutilation", "Here Comes Your Man" and one of my favourite Pixies tunes "Monkey Gone To Heaven"

No doubt coming from MFSL it will be an aural treat, no mention yet as to whether or not it is multi-channel or stereo, but Surfer Rosa was stereo only.

That's awesome. Mofi's site says it will be shipping in February.

I got to see them in concert last month and they were really good. This looks like it will be a good release.

I didn't know that there was still enough interest in SACD to justify a release like that. The last time I checked, SACD was dying or dead.

Certainly in terms of popular music it is down to a bone here and there like the Genesis albums remasters, Depeche Mode re-issues and now MFSL looks like they're going to do the Pixies catalogue one every few months....but for jazz and classical music it is certainly not dead..or dying.

I think a number of us still hope that UMG and SonyBMG will make a more concerted effort on hires popular releases (U2, Bob Marley, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Dave Mattews Band, etc.) in their catalogues once the current Blu-ray/HD DVD war has been finalized, which should likely happen later this year.

With an extra 6 million SACD capable devices on market now in the 20GB, 60GB and 80GB PlayStation 3 models it wouldn't make sense for them to have included SACD compatability, then boosted the balls of the SACD capabilities to DSD to PCM decimation into 24/176.4 5.1 PCM through a firmware upgrade, if they never planned to perhaps do a few more popular remasters that would appeal to SACD owners, PS3 owners and music fans in general, like a deluxe edition of Pearl Jam's "Ten" in SACD/CD multi-channel hybrid with a DVD with DD 5.1 and dts 24/96 mixes for DVD-V players and old interview footage etc., just like they've done with Genesis and Depeche Mode - although neither of them came out of the SonyBMG camp if I'm not mistaken.

Doolittle was the last good album The Pixies put out. Bossanova was just crap. I don't usually get all that excited about SACDs but this one has piqued my interest. Probably one of my all time favorite albums. I actually saw them in SF playing with Primus and Jane's Addiction many moons ago. Great show.

Bossanova was a steaming pile, true. Their final one, Trompe Le Monde, was OK, but Doolittle is really in a league of its own.

On the Trompe Le Monde tour, they didn't really seem that into it to me, and were blown away by the opener, Pere Ubu. (cool side note: I saw them at Oberlin College, and David Bowie who was touring w/Tin Machine at the time and staying in Cleveland, came out and hung out at the sound board to hear the show).

On the other hand, I saw their reunion tour in Detroit and it was one of the best shows I've seen in years. They clearly needed a break.

I didn't like Bossanova, but Trompe Le Monde was a great album.
Umass, Jefrey with one F, Navajo Know, Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons and Space I believe in are all grat tracks!!

Jane's Addiction - I'd love to get some remasters of theirs!

I saw them in 2003 in Toronto with Flea on bass, they played 2.5 hours and it was incredible. Three Days, Summertime Rolls, Kettle Whistle and Ain't No Right were definitely highlights.

When they came back a year or so later on that new album they played for only 90 minutes and then Perry ****ed off to DJ at Fez Batik. What a rip.

Anyway, gotta listen to Bird Dream tonight now that it's in my head...great tune.

I don't know if anyone ordered this from Amazon, but I pre-ordered it for $23.95 and they sent me the Japanese import CD.
The description of the item has now changed from Doolittle (SACD) (Import) to Doolitte (Import).
They are refunding me the $23.98 and allowed me to order the correct item, which is now listed as Doolittle (SACD) at $30+, and put a promotion on the item so that it came to $23.98.

MFSL has it available direct from their site for $24.95, which might be the more hassle free method.

How, precisely, did you get from my simple observation that "SACD is dying or dead" to the conclusion that I hate SACD?? This is equivalent to hearing me say "that dog is dying" and concluding that I hate dogs!:p
The format has not caught on sufficiently to become widespread, is all. I am not into it because of the expense. Unlike vinyl, it sounds as good as CD (theoretically better) and offers a surround option to boot.

I like MOFI, I've got AJA, GAUCHO, THE WALL, SILK DEGREES in CD from them.
Sadly all out of print, I saw THE WALL for $150.00 used online.

Bossonova by the pixies was far better than trompe le monde in my opinion, but I wouldn't listen to any pixies cd today myself out of choice. I tried (and have countless times recently with friends of mine who still like them). Good for teens but I can't understand how people grow up into their 20's and still say pixies are great. I mean, I was the biggest fan of them as a kid and I think it's good for teens, but today I just get confused about how people grown up still dig on them. Just my personal feeling

Trompe Le Monde is highly underrated IMO. I really like how it has an extra terrestrial theme running through it and I think the slightly more polished production helps distinguish it from other Pixies albums.

Wow, you only took 3 months and 5 days to respond to that post. The reason I made that conclusion is because of the way you respond to any format other than red book CDs.

Unlike vinyl, it sounds as good as CD
This opinionated statement has NO truth to it what so ever. It is just your opinion.

Agreed 100%. I'm looking forward to this one and encouraging MOFI to do a rare multi-channel mix on it. They're pretty quick to communicate with their customers.
