Had a quick listen, several minutes from each of teh 10 tracks and think I'm going to like it. I purchased this on CD as no vinyl is available for it yet.

I have to agree with teh review found here;

Its definately more ploshed than there last two albums striving for a miore polished and commercial sound but the songs themselves vary enough and sound different enough from one another as not to sound boring. I would put this album as 2nd place tie with their 1st one, "Old World Underground" and slightly behind "Live It Out"

Its worth the purchase.

I went to the mall with my sister today and she made a point to get this cd. We listened to it once and both liked it. This is saying a lot for me because it isn't really the type of music I listen to. I looked at the lyrics and whoever does the writing is excellent at it. I'm gonna listen a lot more and figure out how much i like it.

I bought this album a few weeks ago, and it's been in my car stereo ever since. What first drew me to the album was the first single "Help I'm Alive"....a truly great song, with so many twists and turns to keep you singing along. The whole album continues on like that - keeping me interested all the way through.
One thing I really noticed is how good all the instruments sound, especially the guitar....seems like they really took their time on this album and I think it paid off. There's definitely something more polished about it, and I think it's a good change for Metric.
Now I need to go take a look at their tour schedule.....wouldn't mind getting out to see them this summer!

They're pretty amazing live, lowender! A few weeks ago, they did a free forty-five minute set at the downtown HMV. And wow, was it packed! But I did manage to get in (kinda weird, as I, at the grand age of 37, was among the oldest in the audience!), and they not only sounded really good, they had really high energy and were all about the fun. I would have loved to see them do a full show, but I simply was unavailable. You won't be disappointed should you see them live! :)

cheers,

Geeze, I wish I were there to make you feel like a yoing pup again. *L* They are a good band and I prefer them as a group as opposed to her (forget tyhe lead singer's name right off hand) solo work.
