Thanks for the add. I have a Sony DVP-CX985V that I purchased new almost 20 years ago. Sadly, the carousel motor is about to go out on it. Does anyone here know of a place that will work on one of these? I love this thing and hate to give up on it.

There used to be various Sony service centers. I amazingly had one right up the street when the flex cable broke on my multidisc tray, but it closed about 10 years ago. Since it is 20yrs old, chances of there still being parts around are slim. Check the Sony service site

Consider ripping your disks to a computer drive and then stream it to your audio system with one of the many available options to do that. That makes your disc collection ultra mega in size.

Check to see if it's really the motor and not the drive belt.
Mine was failing. Acting like the motor wasn't spinning the disk. Also the carosul wasn't turning well.
Got some new belts off Amazon and everything is working again.

Mine was the belt not the motor, the belts wear out over time. It cost me $19 to fix mine back then.
