I have an mcs 6601 that I got new in 1980. Its been a great turntable but I'm having some issues. I have had it hooked up to a Pioneer SA620 power amp and it sounds great. The problem is that i want to downsize a bit and not have a big power amp and speakers for just a single turntable. I've tried using powered speakers but when hooked to them i have no volume. Is there an issue with these turntables and amps? I would imagine that the signal from the TT is passive and that connection to the powered speaker would be enough to amplify the signal but i'm not gettimg that.

Hmmm, I guess I jumped the gun. It seems this TT does not have a pre amp built in. I've got one on the way.

Still have to make sure the output from the phono stage (pre-amp) will be sufficient for the sensitivity of the powered speakers, altho much better chance now with the pre-amp it will be....good luck.
