Maybe I'm Just Bored But...

Maybe I'm just bored with the constant bickering back in forth on this site about politics and religion but WTF?

Is there nothing better to talk about? No new pictures to post? No new equipment on the market? No old equipment to talk about? Nobody has a review to post?

Basically, am I one of the only regular " no life MF" members that would like to read more about other members audio/video questions or advice?

It seems like the only audio/video related threads are coming from relative newcomers to the site (for which I'm guilty of too). I admit I add stupid remarks to some of these political/religious threads just because they are ridiculous.

We have some custom installers on this site.......how about some pics of the tools and equipment you use or "installations in progress"?

Let's not chase away the newbies just because we're too busy typing up a long-winded response instead of answering their simple questions

Yeap

couldn't agree more hit the NAIL ON THE HEAD!I was following this forum gathering infromation and soon after I joined there was a controversial thread about the middle east and it was quickly locked and put to rest. I thought I joined the wrong forum. The mod's should give these threads a day or two then lay them to rest.
JUST MY OPINION:D

Well

I've got a new Panasonic AE900U projector in the box, and a new Sceptre 42" LCD in the box.

I'm in the process of trying to clean up long overdue piles of papers to get the room ready, considering new furniture, considering how to black out the room, considering what to do for audio (is it worth waiting for HDMI 1.3 for a receiver, how much to blow on speakers etc.), deciding what kind of screen to buy, etc.

It just so happens that I have some passion in the area of wanting as many other people to be able to affort new toys, too, i.e., politics.:)

FYI, I'm a 'newbie' in home theatre.

Okay, okay. (Spoil sport. :p )

We're busy trying to integrate TWO Hsu subwoofers into our minimalist system. I thought I was gonna choke on my Pepsi when we first watched Finding Nemo with both subs on. Holy smokes. No...HOLY SMOKES!!! When Darla rapped on the aquarium, there was significant movement in the Cascadia Subduction Zone off the coast of Oregon. Good thing we're above the tsunami inundation level.

Two subs ARE better than one. Ahhhhhhh.......

(BTW, thanks, YouKnowWho! :) )

Yeah, well I've got to admit that subwoofer comparison threads can get pretty heated around here too! But at least they're about audio.

Yeppers, and that heat is silly, cuz ALL subwoofers are great in their own, unique thumpa-thumpa way! 'Cept JBL's...they just sucka-sucka. ;)

I'll probably go with the HO but there is a certain SVS sub I've been wanting since I've been in this little hobby of ours....

PB12–Ultra/2;)

...I think owning both a HSU and SVS would cause a tare in the space-time continuum though?

You would need a Velodyne, HSU, AND a SVS to do that.

I should add though, if I did get the PB12 ultra/2 the VTF-3 would go to a 2-channel setup I'm cooking up. I just don't think my little 13x15 room could handle that much bass.:p

Hi Ho

Well I ordered a Tivo the other day. The main thing holding me back was the fact that there were no dual tuner models available. When I saw that they now have a dual tuner model I just had to jump on it.

Eventually I'll build an HTPC to take over that duty, preferably when CableCard ready HDTV tuner cards are available and I have an HDTV.

For now, I'll be VERY happy to stop using my VCR. :D

Infact here are my plans at a two-zone music rig I'm designing for my den/patio areas. The receiver doesn't need to be a multi-zone receiver as it will only be playing from one source.

2x x-ls bookshelves from AV123 $199
2x unknown outdoor speakers ~$200
1x mid-fi receiver...maybe the new Pioneer 1016? ~$500 perferable less.
1x existing VTF-3??
1x unknown CD player ~$200

My den looks out onto the patio so the wire runs won't be terrible long. Now that I have a nice gas grill(bought it a week before I left) I need some tunes out there. I really like the feedback I'm reading on those x-ls speakers, in fact I'll probably order them before I go on leave so I can give em a listening too and if I don't like them I can send them back. I plan on getting the rest of the equipment throughout the nine months I am here so the only "big" purchase when I get back will be the new sub and room treatments.

....and of course that damn $$$$$ cruise my wife wants to go on.:D

Your just now figuring that out...

Just messing with you.
Yeah 2 of them are great - And should be, all that one person really needs.
However, there are some bass heads out there - that need more (think Todd-Buckeye):D

I wish I had never sold my Rosewood VTF3-MK2. The sadness of that still lingers. One of these days I will get over it.:(

Out of the 3 that I had/have. The Rosewood just sounded better (could just be my imagination - that it dug deeper)
The PB sounds pretty darn good, and the matte black was the weak link...

But as I said it could have been my imagination (the eye candy - RULES)

Oh, and for those that want to know - I told Todd, that the 1015tx (Pioneer) is most certainly a better buy - over the Elite 56. Not my imagination - the 1015 did have better DSP than this 9300 (Elite 56)...

Hmm, now only to see when the 1016 comes out.... (maybe the 74txvi - but doubt it)

I guess my rambling - sounds like Mule......

Also, I am thinking of going the CRT front projection route - As I think I am on my 6th DLP....
I just like that 10,000 hour bulb life...
The 100 - 250lbs is not a concern..;)

Because thease are important issues that must be delt with every election year.

Who cares about high gas prices, border security or job out sourcing.

I need to be assured I can safely walk down the street and not see poeple burning the flag or two dudes holding hands.
