Max length of source cable

Hi all,

How long can I make a 3.5mm - RCA cable without signal loss problems??

I want to connect my ipod to my hi-fi system (stereophiles shrieks ), and I want to make a long enough cable so I can sit on my couch controlling the ipod while it's connected to the hi-fi in the front of the lounge room about 5 meters away.

After some measurements, I would need a cable run of about 16m (52.5ft) in length (using perhaps Canare 4S6), and I've read some articles online that tells me 50ft is the maximum run..

Do you think I'll run into problems of signal loss, interference or any other havoc? Or there are other solutions?

Thanks..

I think you'd be fine with a cable that long, but I'd look at a wireless solution.

I remember using something called an iParty once upon a time. It worked perfectly.

Depending on what receiver you have, there's probably a dock for it that allows you to control your ipod via remote.
