So i've been looking at dvi-d cables to run from my dvd recorder to projector. Minimal length running around walls etc to keep out of site is 37 feet. I see by popularity my choices limited to 30 and 50 foot. I'm not naive and know i dont need to spend top dollar on high end cabling. But i read in several places that a dvi or Hdmi signal deteriorates after 16 feet. Though i've read several posts that 30 foot lengths seemed fine with no noticable loss. 30 foot would push it, i'd have to have exposed wire which i obviously like to avoid, but i'm concerned about 50 foot. MY source for now will only be a 480p, but in future 720 maybe even 1080 eventually. Amplifiers are quite costly and out of my budget. I see on ebay 50 footers for around 50 stating 24 guage, 99.99 oxegen free, tripple shielding, etc.

Has anyone using a 50 foot run (decent cable) come across any problems, i'm curious before I buy, though.. not really any other options without using an amplifier which isnt an option.

hey thanks man, yea i picked up the ones off ebay for 30 for a 50, tripple shielded, heavy gage, oxegen free, gold, etc. should be decent. They guantee no ghosting or anything. They even have hundred footers listed on there for like 120, they also guantee no signal loss, etc. Hmmm, interesting. Though I read it all depends on the source and the power that it sends.

Wish I had seen this earlier.

I would have suggested an HDMI cable for long term functionality and just use pig tails at either end for such a long run.
