I took a look at the ultra13 and that thing is too huge for me so i think i will go with a second seismic12 or seismic10...now could i match a seismic10 with the 12??...of course they have the same amp but one goes down to 17hz and the other to 21(specs)..just in case i cant get a second seismic12(beeing discontinued)..the seismic10 are not beeing discontinued so i might get one!

You could certainly make it work with the right equipment and placement. You just would probably be emphasizing the higher bass frequencies more. Perhaps if you use a low crossover on the 12 it could help.

I wouldn't recommend it though.

rethink Ultra or go identical :)

Even though Paradigm makes very, very good speakers, if it were me, I would sure try and find room for the Ultra :D

When you have multiple subwoofers, it is best that they are identical. So, if after careful reconsideration, the Ultra just won't work ... then get a second Seismic12

Take Care!

Go with identical matching subs or get a different higher performing one.

Using a 10" along with a 12" is like having race tires on the rear of your Ferrari with standard street tires up front for a day at the track. It works, but not all that well, and not up to the potential of the race tires.

I would go with the Ultra 13. It is always better to go with one awesome sub than two less than stellar ones. Although both can be used, as mentioned placement and calibration is key. I have a pair of Deftech P7001sc and an SVS NSD12/2 and although the DT's have awesome bass, I use them strictly as mid bass and let the SVS handle all the low stuff.

If you love the seismic already then this is your best bet.

The Ultra 13 would be a change in brands and may not be to your liking. Everyone is different. dual subs are easier to place than singles and in a smaller room a large sub can overpower the room pretty easily IMO.

If your is untreated I suggest you look into it. It can make a decent sub sound way better.

seems like people here dont like paradigm and are all svs freaks...the seismic12 is an awesome sub for its size and is not ''less than stellar'' sub it is quite impressive and all the reviews i read before purchasing it were very good and its the best compact sub on the market..svs might be good but i dont agree to go down on other brand here!

I just read through this thread, and I see two recommendations to reconsider the Ultra - but I don't see any bashing of Paradigm. I didn't take Matthew's comments as such, but I can see how you might. However, no one else here put down other subs.

I think that you've got some good recommendations here. It seems like your best route is another Seismic 12 if you can find one. I wouldn't be afraid of combining a 10" and a 12", but other people here have far more experience with dual subs than I do. There's a good article on setting up multiple subs at the AH main site, linked here.

I'd sure appreciate it if you'd let us know what you end up going with and how you like it. Thanks!

clouso, dont take my comment the wrong way. They are very good subs, I was just making a comparison to the Ultra 13 and when you compare 99% of subs up against the Ultra, they are less than stellar, and that's why I said it like that. Sorry for downplaying how good the seismic sub is.

ok mattew mb i got you wrong sorry ..the seismic12 is the best sub i have had yet and i thought you were telling me it was not a good sub...im pretty sure that i would be impressed by the 13ultra but it is only too big..i prefer place 2 smaller like the seismics.. and im sure 2 of them will be more then enough...thou im a bass freak!:)

Mob mentality lol. Many people own and love SVS products. You gotta promote what you love. That's being said SVS puts the high quality plate amps and very good drivers into their subs. So you will probably get a better sub.

However, almost every sub I've seen gets 5 star reviews from owners. Even cheap ones. That's because we all love and appreciate bass.

FYI there are plenty of Paradigm people here. People are very opinionated in our hobby so you gotta have some thick skin sometimes. You will find there are experts in certain areas though. People that just plain scare you with their knowledge. When they speak listen.

I still remember someone putting down my PJ lol. Of course I was putting down TV's so I guess it was warranted. But it's the best display I've ever owned. Yeah a nice new 1080p would look better, but it would also cost 10 times the price I paid too. :D
