Hey guys, these are the speakers we currently have in our family room.
Klipsch Quintet II [Specs].
And the sub.

Please give me your input on the best receiver for the speakers/the money, but you must follow the rules;

Maximum price is $550 shipped and taxed. [EDIT: 60134, if you need to know.]
The amp/audio fidelity in music/movies is more important than features.

I guess those are the only rules...

Anyway, after you pick your best choice, look at what I chose and give me input vs. yours.

I appreciate your help. ;)

ps, new speakers are out. Our current receiver is the weak component right now, and the speakers need to be wall mountable and rotate on the wall [i.e., they go in a corner and can't be parallell to the mounting surface.] So no "Well, your speakers make a bigger difference" suggestions, if you don't mind

My pick: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069809_316743263_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_V3_ProductDetailsComponent

*sigh* You know, I could most certainly take offense to that ;p
I won't though. However, that reciever is only a tad better than the current one; this is a big, open room, and always having to turn the reciever to 80% volume for it to be 'loud' says to me "better reciever."

I looked at those same speakers...I'm not getting them, the newer Klipsh speakers are too bright for me, but if I did I would pick up a Yamaha Rx-V659 or a Denon AVR-1907...Both are about the same price and both would be sufficient for those speakers...

And, from what I have both heard and read, Yamaha receiver tend to be a bit bright already, so a Klipsh/Yamaha combo may get tinny...

The speakers are fairly efficent, which suggests the receiver is not likely the problem. It may be that the room is too large for the speakers to handle.

I have heared that too, but I don't think that it's true. I would'nt still own my Yamaha if it was bright.

Pioneer 1016

The pioneer 1016 would be a great choice. I own it and love it.

Thanks all for the input. I found the 1016 for $440, and will probably go with that.

Please come back and let us know how the 1016 worked out for your room. I have the same exact speakers and the matching 10" sub and desperately need to upgrade my a/v receiver. And like you, our family room (14 x 17 ft) is very open.
