I'm trying to decide between getting 1 Abyss or 2 Dynamo's. If I get the Abyss, I probably won't get another one for quite some time. The real reason I'm considering these are the space requirements within my entertainment center. The Abyss will barely fit while the Dynamos will fit nicely. I figure getting 2 Dynamo's will provide a more balanced sound. My room is 18' x 23' w 12' ceilings.

I've got all 3 coming in next week to test them out, but any input for this newbie would be appreciated.

Also, any advice on front firing or bottom firing? From what I read, I should put them front firing since they will be in my entertainment center, but my cabinets don't have fabric fronts. The salesman said I don't need fabric fronts, but I'm thinking about getting them them cut out and it added anyways.

Thanks for the comments:D

2 dynamos are not going to fill your room and the 1 abyss really can't either. IMO the abyss, then a second would work. As for firing options, down is the practically option if you want easy access to the plate amp. IMO you should not put them in the cabinet, as that more than likely isnt the best place sonicly. I'd move up to grotto as the footprint isn't much different from the abyss (2"). If not the velodyne DD10. If you can move outside the cabinet you have a world options within your budget that will be better for your room.

Are you going with Martin Logan because you are trying to pair them with other ML speakers?

I agree with Bandphan, keep them out of the EC if at all possible.

Your going about this the wrong way IMO.

First consider if you can do a DIY option maybe even hire out the cabinet.

If not then look at SVS, HSU, Velodyne, Epik, JL Audio and whatever else is in your budget. If your poor then look at Dayton subs.

Don't waste your time with these jokers. Many ID subs are just flat out better.

That's my 2 cents though. If you want a good small sub then get a JL Audio 8w7 and put it in a small ported box. That sub will compete with most 12 inchers.

Gents....in response to your questions...

I'd prefer to put them in the EC if possible for looks. The cabinet sizes are 21" x 21" x 14" deep. I already have a problem getting the Abyss in, but was hoping the Dynamos would work out. Otherwise, cut out the back of the EC to make room for the Abyss or place it outside the EC.

The rest of my speakers are Klipsch. RF-63 towers, RC-64, and CDT 5800's driven by an Elite SC-07 receiver.

As for DIY, not looking to do it this go around.

I don't have a particular price point other than cheaper the better and decent quality. I'm not looking for my clothes or the house to shake, just wanting good sound!

Thanks
