Martin Logan Motion SLM....

Hello guys - I am a novice looking for help. I have a big living/family room open kitchen and I want to setup a home theater system without making my place look like a studio. Dimensions of the room - 20 x 40 with vaulted ceilings. Music listening would be 60-70% of the time.

I am not a audiophile but I appreciate good music. I don't think I have the ear and knowledge to choose speakers but will try in the next few months. I have a budget of up to $5000. It is a lot for me but I am looking for something that I would enjoy for a long long time.

From my online research, I have the following in mind. Marantz SR5010 for something similar. Not fixated on it but I would definitely want that supports the latest technology, wifi, bluetooth, etc...
SVS PB-2000 for the subwoofer.
Architecturally Martin Logan Motion SLM XL for LCR would be great. Thinking of Motion FX for the rear two speakers.
Any suggestions on this setup. I have to start visiting a/v stores and listen to some of this in action.
Thanks and appreciate your help.

Great choice of receiver and sub, you can't go wrong with those.

As for speakers, you and only you can weigh the value of "architecturally pleasing" versus sound in your space. And that's a HUGE space. The Martin Logan pieces are good but you can never expect the full rich sound of a larger cabinet. I understand you want it to be aesthetically acceptable though.

In that type speaker you might also look at the KEF T305 package that's on sale currently, and just play with it's minimal subwoofer a little before selling that piece off. :)

Architecturally pleasing is nice to have. I will consider bookshelf or floor standing (in wall works as well but not my preference) if on-wall speakers don't sound good at all.

I see there is a dealer in the area. I will check them out.

I see Klipsch has G-28 and Definitive technology has Mythos. I will continue to read up on information in this forum and also listen to the speakers. Thank you.

A lot of those speakers have multiple passive radiators, little more than a technical looking decoration.

Taking the receiver and SVS subwoofer out of the total, how much you got left for speakers?

Around 3000$ would be good. I look for value in what I buy. If the difference between a 1000$ and 2000$ speakers is 5%, I would probably settle for 1000$. Thanks for your time.

Listening tests tell you a lot about value when you can both hear and see them in person. Best of luck!
