Hi guys,

I just upgraded my subwoofer from Sunfire Junior to Martin logan Grotto. I used Y cable to connect my Denon AVR 3805 (from preout subwoofer output) to R/L inputs of Grotto. After I connected and turned on the receiver, little sound/noise ssssssseeeee came from all five speakers (front R/L, Center, Rear R/L). I tried to disconnet the sub from the receiver, that sound disappeared. Again, I reconnected it and the noise came back. I did not have this problem before with my Sunfire sub.. Did I do anything wrong? Please help!!!

Thank you very much for your help and have a nice day.

I wouldn't think it would make a difference, but did you try it without the Y-adapter.

Audio2004,
I haven't had any problems like that with my Grotto. I have one cable from the sub pre-out to the LFE in, and then a stereo cable (L/R) from the L/R pre-outs to the sub L/R in. Do you have your Y cable running from the sub pre-out or sub out through the Y adapter to the L/R input? I am not sure what that would do, as I have not tried that, but I don't believe it should make the other speakers make noise, unless there is some kind of a feedback going back to the receiver? I don't see how. Maybe just try doing the direct connection from the sub to the LFE input and see what happens?

How would the sub send feedback to the other speakers?, that is what I would like to know. That seems very strange that it would do that.

Grotto Connection

When I went home last night, I started to do all kind of connection again and again and I have the same result. I tried to connect from preout of receiver to LFE input of subwoofer. And then I tried to connect from preout of receiver to Left input of subwoofer (in this case, I don't use Y cable). At the end, I thought it probably relates to power. Therefore, I connected the power of subwoofer to another electrical outlet, but the noise still came out from the speakers. I purchased it on Audiogon.com and per seller, it's brand new. Do you guys think this subwoofer had something wrong?

Captain_tinker - why do you connect stereo cable L/R from the F/R preouts to the sub L/R inputs since you already had one cable connect the sub preout to the LFE input?

Thanks.
