Martin Logan Dynamo Placement

Hello I have a couple of questions.

I have a Martin Logan Dynamo subwoofer and it is can be set up for front firing or down firing.

I use one of these GREAT subwoofers up in my 7.1 system. This room is medium size about 12' by 16'. It is carpeted. So my question is with that room size and being carpet... do you suggest down fire or front fire? In this room it is 50% movies, 30% music, and 20% gaming.

Second I use my second Dynamo in 5.1 satellite set up. This room is 10' by 12'. It has hardwood floors and sits in the corner. Would you suggest front fire or down fire? In this room it is 50% movies/TV, 40% games, and 10% music.

Thank you for looking and your suggestions.

this is a quote i read today,

advantage of a down-firing subwoofer is the increased flexibility of placement in the room, while its primary disadvantage is that the forces on the cone are not equal, so that during each ‘up and down’ cycle—irrespective of the frequency being reproduced— the cone will move further on the ‘down’ half of the cycle than it will on the ‘up’ half, due to gravity hindering it in one direction and helping it along in the other

having said this i have my abyss down firing after playing around with it before adding my other sub into the mix. One problem is access to the board when its setup for front firing

So where you have it downfiring are you in hardwood or carpeting?

Let me know.

Thanks!

Isn't the Dynamo a bit small for a 12'x16' room?

I'd set it as front firing in the carpeted room.

But since you have two of them, set them up differently in the same room and compare them.
