when i pulled the subwoofer cable from the back of the AVR it made a pop sound and the subwoofer was no longer in standby. I have tried reconfiguring the subwoofer (and all speakers) several time but still no sound from sub (the AVR - marantz SR5010 sends test tones to each channel)...
This suggests that something, somewhere in the chain, is preventing a strong enough signal from reaching the Sub.
There are a lot of variables.
Too low a signal from the AVR.
too low a signal through the wireless transmitter
A problem with the Sub
A problem with the LFE channel
Those are my quick off-the cuff thoughts.
First, if you pulled the cable while things were powered... DON'T! This is a good way to blow something. Of course, it could have been a happy accident.
Easiest to check is: What is your AVR Sub Trim set at? (Suggested above.
)
(What happens if you turn up the Sub Trim in the AVR, does that more powerful signal wake up the Sub? You may need to adjust the Sub Gain down.)
