I've just begun listening to this cd. It just knocks my socks off! I've always liked his stuff, but never thought enough of it to spend cash on. Until now.

This album is filled with passion and grace and the sweetest guitar tones I've EVER heard.

All I can say is WOW...I've been missing out on a genius performer. The curtain is lifted.

Just kidding. I wish they would reproduce "On Every Street" in sacd...that's my favorite knopfler cd. Soulful, bluesy, lots of good rifts and great vocals. I like Mark Knopfler.

A friend of mine turned me onto Shangri-La on SACD. It's pretty sweet and I've been a listener since then.

If you liked Golden Heart, try The Ragpickers Dream and Sailing to Philadelphia, also All The Roadrunning where he teams up with Emmylou Harris. I'd like to team up with Emmylou Harris....

Thanks for the tips, Geno.

Yep, she's a fave of mine, too. (slurp...)

I have a couple of Knopfler CDs that I like, but not that particular one. I really enjoy the first Dire Straits album, but feel that they went downhill after that.
I agree that Emmylou is seriously hot. IMO she looks even better now than when she was younger. She also sings like an angel.

Emmylou, she's a fine wine.... gets even better with age and Mark is a really fine story teller let alone one of the best players around.
"All the roadrunning" is one my favorites. the live DVD "Real Live Roadrunnig" is also very good. it's in DTS and the video is also nice. Song For Sonny Liston is great as is Red Dirt Girl the song"If this is goodbye" was inspired by the the phone calls made by those who perrished in the attacks on 9/11. listening to it knowing that made it a very moving song to me. come to think of it, I like all the songs. Both are worth buying.

I'm listening to this as I type...

Sounds like a smoker.. and you know what they say about those guys... they tell great jokes.

And this is where I stop it. Just a little boring for my tastes.

Tomorrow,

In addition to those titles previously listed, you may wish to check out the soundtrack to the films 'Cal' and 'Local Hero'. These are fairly old; Mark Knopfler was still in Dire Straits at that time, but they are still good in their own right.

Pretty much anything by Mark Knopfler is decent or better, which just goes to show that you can't hold back talent.

What? I listened to the song, and told him that it isn't in my tastes.

I'm pretty sure that's more then I've received in my music thread.

I had no idea (I don't know what you're talking about).

And all you did was state your preference (of not liking the album). You're perfectly entitled...so carry on.
