Marantz sr8500 vs HK 7300

HK7300 advantages:
Faroudja DCDi video 480p upconversion
Heavier (65lbs vs 35 lbs)

I have a HDTV plasma monitor and wanted your recommendations on which one you would probably go with (Martin Logan fronts).

The 7300 has impressive specifications but it probably costs much more than the SR8500. According to harmankardon.com, it weighs 55 lbs, shipping weight with accessories and packing weighs 69.3 lbs. Still, 20 lbs heavier.

Based on the weight alone, I'd say you made the right choice. I don't know that the Marantz would be any better for music considering the HK's amps are probably more robust (just judging from weight). Let us know how you make out.

I read a review of the HK7300 in Sound and Vision mag. It was very impressive. Good choice.

The HK 7300 is a beast! I think i read in sound and vision that it is the most powerful receiver the reviewer ever tested. I wish i have the money to buy one. let us know what u think about the unit.
