I just bought, on Friday, a Marantz SR8500 receiver, and my Firehawk screen, and am having some remorse on the receiver. Does anyone have any experience with the receiver, or know anything somethings about it, or listened to it for some duration, and have any advice on the receiver versus the others mentioned?
I have been driving my RBH Signature series speakers with my Yamaha 5590 .. and am not so certain that the SR8500 actually sounds better. I had a major screwup with my center channel receiver, knocking in the silk tweeter while rewiring my speakers very late last night.
I didnt notice until a few hours ago, about 17 hours after knocking it in, and was able to pop the dome back out .. but it does have some slight wrinkles on it that I hope will go away. Ill be posting about this problem in the speakers forum.
Also, the installer from the home theater company i bought the gear from, as I was telling him that I would label my speakerwire whipped out a 1.5 vold AA battery and took some speaker wire to show me that I didnt need to label the wires. I practically layed an egg when he did that, and Im hoping his experience is correct that using the battery is actually a more efficient way to ID the speaker to the wire and that it actually does NO Damage to the speaker.
Back to my main point here, im not so certain if its only because of the tweeter, or the battery test, or if Im just being paranoid, or if its actually the receiver.
Does anyone have any guidance and experience they can share on the SR8500?
