Approx. the same amount of power. Can be had for the same price (1400 CAD).

65% music
35% movies

Like warm sound as much as detailed
Type of music: Rock / Alternative metal (Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace, etc. (these are the most popular))

Exagerated soundings like YAMAHA are to deconsider.
Denon's too flat. Please stick with those two lol.

Don't care for the video options; don't need them (hooking up dvd player directly to tv via HDMI.

I think that Marantz reproduces the real sound of the instruments better though. Hate the NAD look either.

What do you guys think?

That's kind of a tough one, but I'd lean towards the Marantz. I'd say it is actually closer to the 763 than the 753. For mostly music though, it's a tough call. I like the sound of NAD, but many find them almost too warm. I listen to more music than movies too and that was why I chose with Marantz.

Only euphonic amps do this. Otherwise, it is the room, the speakers and the recording that makes the sound. But, if you like it warm, choose an amp/preamp that has tone controls. That is what they are for.

The yam is transparent as most modern amps are.

In this case, it is easy. You get the Marantz. Why agonize over it? You already made the choice, just needed a bit of help to put you over that hump. Do it and be happy.

Acutally I just went into an audio shop over here in Ottawa... just to have a quote on the marantz and the NAD... but then... the guy showed me his hi-fi room.

And then Cambridge Audio went on. It was an integrated amp in 2-channel but god damn.... powerful!!! The music was as beautiful and WARM, even at high levels; where I like it! :D Then, before exiting the store, I told the guy we couldn't make the comparison because I was sure it was going to sound totally different with my Polks. And you know what the salesman told me? "Bring your set of front Polks and then we'll hook 'em on on Marantz, NAD, and Cambridge Receivers. My jaw just felt on the ground and my gf had to pick it up util we went home. And JESUS CHRIST it has the simple quite professional look I was looking for! Also very thin. SEE YOU TOMORROW AudioShop! :D

He also described the Cambridge Audio receiver as better sound quality and power than Marantz and comparable to NAD (even a bit higher) for 2/3 of the price (1K CAD).

Can't wait for tomorrow. I'll give you guys some feedback. But for now, if you want to check it up, the model name is "Azur 540R (version 2)" and you can have the specs on this page:

We have a winner

Got to the audioshop yesterday with my speakers. Hooked Marantz, NAD and Cambridge Audio;

1. 3RD: Marantz. Not that bad but the sound reproduction isn't as good as CA or NAD. Nice headroom though.
2. 2ND: Nice warm sound I was looking at. Nice looks; very simple to use. The only problem is that these 105wpc in 2-channel lacks of power. Let alone when I'll be playing music in PLII: Music!!! (80wpc). No headroom at all.
3. 1ST: NAD: Sound is even a little smoother and warmer than the CA (altough it was already nice). NAD really impressed me. Not a lot of features; very basic. But they put their money on the componenents/sound quality. And OMG.... huge headroom here. I feel this unit could deliver enough power to blow the windows. The only problem is the looks. But I know it has nothing to do with sound quality so... Overall, pretty impressed even with the mid-line model (T753). T743 wouldn't have been enough power though.

Now it's time to backup a little bit and think. Great A/V receiver; but 1400CAD-spending good?

I live in Canada. Do you know some places (shops/online) that I could have it for less?
