Marantz SR7005 related issues

Last weekend I acquired a SR7005, which is a great receiver and I'm happy with it, but a couple of problems have come up since I set it up.

My subwoofer has developed a ground loop through the signal cable since upgrading to the Marantz and I did not have this problem with my old Onkyo. The hum is a little louder when the receiver is on. I assumed the cable went bad because the connector has started to bend, so I used a different cable, but it got worse instead of better. My subwoofer is plugged into a different outlet than my receiver, but the size of my living room does not allow for moving it to the same outlet as the receiver.

Also, for some reason my PS3 won't handshake over HDMI (no sound or video) with the receiver either. It has no trouble displaying on my TV, although I have to have deep color turned off, which wasn't a problem before.

Any input would be appreciated on either issue.

Tried a cheater plug on the sub?

My ps3 has worked well with a variety of avrs. What order are you turning things on?

Sorry, but I'm not familiar with what a cheater plug is?

I usually turn on the receiver and TV first, then the source unit. But I have tried it with the PS3 already on.

The strange thing is, instead of the receiver and TV indicating no signal, the receiver just displays the Marantz logo on the TV.

I'd start with turning the display on first, then avr, then source. Are you enabling hdmi control or using avr's video processing?

Oh okay.... that kind of plug. No, I don't use one of those.

I think you need to try the two prong adapter to see if that's the problem.

If you feel uncomfortable with this then you could try a coaxial ground loop device. Nine times out of ten the ground loop comes from your cable TV or antenna line. Buy one of these to solve the problem.

My subwoofer already has a two prong power cable and I tried unplugging the cable box coaxial signal cable and the hum is still there. Also, I don't have any power cables crossing paths with the subwoofer signal cable.

Have you try a component video cable yet? You should also try using the same output as the 7005 via an extension cord, just for trial. I used to have a 7005 with many devices connected to it, including cable box, no ground loop hum issue at all but I read about it on forums that others had such hum too.
