Marantz Sr6013/Graphic equalizer

I have a marantz sr6013 that distorts the audio coming from any graphic equalizer when playing Redbook cd. I have set the on-board equalizer to a bit of a smile, flat. Changed all settings and can not get good sound from any rca input. Swapped cd/DVD players, equalizers, cables etc. Tried on different receiver and flawless. It doesn't distort directly from player, but sound is so dull and lifeless. Has anyone figured out a fix or do I have to accept the loss and move on? Want to use component eq and rca.

Have you tried the Audyssey setup instead? Don't care for most graphic eq options myself in the avr. Don't use rca inputs much either, tho. Can you be more specific about associated gear/inputs/types of connections?

Sure. Any standard CD, CD PLAYER, rca to eq input, eq output to cd or DVD rca input. Audessy has no effect whether on or off. Same distortion. Klipsch rp280,rp160, r112sw. Tried all different settings, pure, stereo, dolby, etc. I can use the exact same equipment on a different unit and it sounds great.

Are you using the multich inputs rather than the specific rca 2ch inputs for each?

What do you mean by "same distortion" .... why would one mode vs another clean up inherent distortion for example?

I know its old school, but honestly to my ears amps/avr sound so much better with that addition. My family members all agree.

I have no idea what you mean by that last post....let alone most of your descriptions of audio issues.....

Sound better with what addition? It sounds like you're hearing distortion. That can't be better.

How about the distortion is constant? I wanted to explain my troubleshooting, as I have gone through the manual, tried every mode change or input change. Do you have a suggested fix?

I think he's routing through an external graphic eq between processor and amp?
Well the Marantz has an onboard graphic eq but negates Audyssey....don't know. We're supposed to be mindreaders or something...

You have a graphic eq between your cd and avr? Why?

Seems then your graphic eq is at fault, not surprising as that's not a great way to go generally.

I just looked at most of your posts on this board. Tons of questions and zero answers. Look in the manual isn't the answer that people want, they want a shortcut to save the time. You don't offer that. You offer a condescending attitude and sense of huge insecurity with the way you speak down to people. You know asking a million questions doesn't give you control. Do you work in IT as a second level support analyst? You fit the mold. Throw a million distractions to not answer. The fact is you don't know.

I doubt you looked very deeply....but yes many questions can be more refined if not self-answered. I'm very familiar with what we're focused on here.
