Marantz SR5200 problems?

Hello to all...I'm new to this board, but post frequently on the Axiom site. I've just had my Marantz SR5200 go up in smoke and sparks for the second time in about 18 months, and someone on the Axiom board mentioned that this was an acknowledged problem with part of the SR5200 production run.

If this is a documented issue, can anyone provide additional details? Buying another receiver is about the last thing in the world I'd like to budget for right now. If Marantz can repair/replace it, that would be a million times better than shelling out for a new unit.

Thanks in advance.

What is the impedence of your Axiom speakers? Isn't the impedence lower than the recommended 8 ohm load on the SR5200?

Marantz SR5200 Problems

The Axioms (with the exception of the VP150 center - 6ohm) are all 8ohm loads. They're all set to "small" on the receiver, anyway. But the good news is that, after a conversation with a Marantz rep, I discovered that there was a service bulletin issued for this problem. Even better, I didn't realize that Marantz offered a 3 year warranty. So in any case, I'm set. The unit went in on Wednesday and I should have it back some time next week.
