I currently own a Pioneer VSX-815 and i am considering upgrading to a Marantz SR-7200. Sound quality wise and features is it worth while upgrade?

I can get the amp as a factory repack for $800AU and i was thinking of buying a Marantz DVD player to go with it as well (DV-4300/DV-4500). I want sound quality upgrade, as i am becoming less a pioneer receiver fan as time goes by.

Any suggestions?

If anything, you are going to lose some features, some important ones including selectable crossover, and auto level settings.

From what I read, the 7200 has a fixed 100Hz crossover frequency, UGH!! That's a big no-no nowadays, even the 815 is a lot more flexible in this regard.

While its a bit long in the tooth and lacking some of the current/last year model's features, I can almost guarantee you it would be a large jump in musical reproduction. Having said this, I think you might be better off looking for something a bit newer with some of the same feature set of the Pio, but a model step or two up... -TD

Thats exactly what i am looking for, however the SR-5500 i think has a dodgy remote and is $1075 Factory Repack. I would love to order from america but i cant cuz of the power adapter and alot of ppl wont send them over. :(

I would also love a denon however they are hard to get/expensive over here (Australia).

I also hate the fact that in america i could get a SR7500 for 850AUD but here its about $2000 (new).

Im 17 and i need some help.

Any ideas guys?

What are the brands that are available to you in your area in your price range?

yes, the Marantz should be better sounding. I have an 815 and it sounds ok, The 815's power amp isn't particularly strong so any Marantz should be an improvement. I'd definitely keep looking. I wouldn't trade my 815 for a 7200 unless I was just running two channel.

I used to own a 6200 and I never had an issue with the 100hz x-over, which may not even be a problem depending on the speakers. I've heard the 811 and the 814 and I have to say, I'd take it over either of those in a second. Based on those prices though, I'd probably keep shopping around too.

Denon are available however factory repacks are difficult to come buy and i would like a Denon AVR-3805 and im willing to pay <$1000AUD for a Factory Repack. However Denon are expensive over here. Marantz id like as my receiver would be used more for music however i beleive that a Denon would be better not to mention 2*8 Burr Brown D/A converters.

However i wish someone would offer to sell me one or the company would. (www.audioproducts.com.au). I am currently in the market for a Denon AVR-3805 and Denon DVD-1920 DVD player, both factory repacks.

I do only have a two channel setup. I can get a E8 cen for $220AU half of RRP with warranty so thats after the amp and dvd player upgrade.

Any suggestions or retailers where i could purchase these?
