Just got my new Marantz PM6004 integrated and CD6004 cd player.
I have not hooked it up yet. I am a little worried that I should have moved up to the PM8004....I feel the PM6004 may be a little under powered. I am coming from an Onkyo system that is 20 years old but has 100watts.
A week ago I didn't want to spend another 400 for 25 watts and mid range adjustment. Should I feel this way? I have a little remorse but 400 is 25% on my way to new speakers. My intent was to get Focal Chorus speakers but the salesman said I would need to look at a speaker with a higher sensitivity rating with the amp...Ugggg help. The review and sound of the PM 6004 are great.
Just have that voice inside saying step up...step up...

Right now I have Klipsch RF82 speakers but don't want to keep these for music. They will be moved back into my HT set up when I get new speakers for the 2 channel set up.
Room size is 18x14
7 foot celling
A desk and couch are the only thing in the room.

I've heard the Chorus speakers (705 or 706, I don't recall) and yes you will probably want to move up to the 8004; even that might not be enough. I've played some pretty hefty speakers on my PM7200, which is also HDAM but puts out an actual tested output of 105w (rated at 90). Despite that it isn't really geared toward being driven hard constantly; even with the massive heat sinks it can get pretty hot when driving difficult loads.

I just might step away from Focal all together then.... Looking at Axiom as well as a few others. Just not so sure I want to part with another 400 on an amp.
Money is tight and it's just that much further from my goal.
If the Klipsch sound good, and they sound great on my HT set up, I may stick with them. Doesn't appear that I can get an easier speaker to drive than this.
