I have a pair of Marantz Imperial 5 speakers, which have foam surrounds on the woofers. The question I have is that when I look at the foam which is breaking down, behind the foam is another surround which looks like a treated cloth surround. I havent removed the old foam yet, and was wondering if the woofers were designed this way, with the foam that is breaking down more of a cosmetic cover over the treated surround? When i play the speakers, they sound fine, without any distortion.
