Marantz AVR 5001 or Onkyo AVR 674 or...

Hi, i'm finally switching from my 20 year old stereo to a new tuner/receiver.
The stereo sound is more important than the surround sound but I still want to be able to play games or watch a movie in surround sound. I narrowed my choice down to the Marantz AVR 5001 and the Onkyo AVR 674. They both seem to come at the same price (about 700 euros) but the features are a little different. As far as I know the Marantz should have a very good sound but the Onkyo has videoupconversiont to HDMI (is this upconversion any good?!).
Can somebody tell me how they really compare? Or are there other brands and models better for the same price?

Marantz Vs Onkyo

I could not find any receiver in Marantz line up with the numbers 5001. There is a CD player from Marantz with the number 5001. You may want to chek the model number again for the Marantz receiver you are comparing to the Onkyo so that we (The group) can help.

It's a brand new receiver that I only found on the US website:

The person in the shop here went to a presentation and recomended it, they should come out in the next month or so. It's probably compareble to the 5600 but with HDMI connection.
