The specs look good but at 700 more than the Integra 9.8 or the new 9.9 I think they are the models to beat.

It is prettier than the Integra.:p

Anyone looking at this yet?
I think it's pretty much the equivalent of the Denon AVR-4308CI without the amp, but with balanced connectors. The Marantz is made in China, but the Denon 4308 is made in Japan.

I think it has the same video processors (Faroudja DCDi) & audio DACs (Burr-Brown PCM-1791) as the Denon 4308 too.

I think the Integra Pre-pro has the Silicon Optix Reon + Burr-Brown PCM-1796.

Incorrect.

Marantz and Denon operate independent from one another. Their operations probably only share a few similarities. The Marantz uses some Anchor Bay upscaler btw.;)

Yeah, looks like UAVMag was not very impressed with the Video scaler of the Marantz.

Sounds to me like Marantz is making a cheaper product in China, but still selling it for more.

People keep on talking about implimentation and all that, but how can Onkyo/Integra make less expensive products, but manage to put in better components like Silicon Optix Reon + Burr-Brown PCM-1796 DACs?

I guess Onkyo/Integra skimp on the HEAT SINKS?

That was not a very in depth review. I would have liked to have heard more about the amp and other features like room correction etc. on the processor.

Makes us appreciate what Gene, Clint and Tom do. :)

I wasn't saying Marantz or Denon where better than the other, just that they are different.;)

Onkyo just uses a very inefficient amplifier topology.

Well, I don't think UAVMag was very impressed with the Denon 4308's video performance either.

And I heard that Onkyo doesn't use heat sinks for the Reon chip. I heard that Denon uses a lot of heat sinks for the Silicon Optix Realta.

My understanding is that the heat issues with the Onkyo is not with the amp section.
