Last night my surround speakers started making a crackling noise, even at lower volumes. I wanted to make sure it wasn't my speakers or amplifier so I plugged in my front speaker amp channels into the surround outputs and the crackling noise moved to the front speakers. Another strange behavior that I noticed was the input was always PCM and any time I enabled a surround sound mode the noise reappeared. I could not get the input stream to change to any other format, I had the Marantz on direct and my Sony blu-ray player outputting DTS. Changing the Marantz HDMI input to auto and DTS didn't help.
I then reset the AV7702 to factory default settings. After I re-setup everything the input stream was switching between different formats and the crackling sound seemed to go away from the surrounds. I used the AV7702 for about 2 hours without any issues.
Has anyone seen issues like this or know what could be causing this?
The fronts and center have no noise or issues at all.
