Any help with this odd error code will be most appreciated:

I have a Marantz AV Surround reciever SR5000.

I have never had a problem with this reciever until now, but I have been recieving the following error: Upon power up the reciever will throw an error on the LCD read out of "Protect", wich is repeated without any options. I have reset power, unplugged all components, yet I still recieve this error. I haven't been able to find any related Marantz KB's related to this error, but obviously this is an issue that the reciever knows about, otherwise it wouldn't throw this error message.

Thanks for any advice,

Jeff

You said you unplugged and replugged all components; did you do the same for the speaker wires? Two wires could be touching.
Check the wire both at the back of your receiver and at the back of all your speakers.
And again, this message appears immediately after power up? Not just at high volumes or during playback.

Now no connections touching the reciever

I thought that speaker connects might have caused the problem...checked to verify that there was no cross connectivity. I disconnected ALL external devices. Only have power to the reciever yet I still recieve the same "protect" error. Seems to me as a pre-defined error code from the reciever indicating some kind of problem. Noted: I have changed power from an APC 1500, to direct power yet recieve the same error. I can;t find a reset, or fuse. Odd!!!!

Thanks for the advice!
