You need to get in touch with marantz tech support.

Each individual mic has a file built into your receiver calibrating it to the mic. If you use the wrong mic you might get way-off results.

I just shot an email to them.

Do you mean to say even if I find the same model it might not work out?

This one? Marantz Audyssey ACM1H for $40. I would confirm the exact model number with A4L before ordering because they have it listed as an ACM1 and as an ACM1H and they are calibrated differently. As long as you buy the right model you should be fine.

Here's some background on that.

Stop by Best Buy with a Magnolia Dept and ask to look through the "junk drawer" they have mics and remotes from former display models. Sometimes they'll just give you what you need...

I emailed A4L and they responded "I verified on the box it’s an ACM-1H" which sounds like what you're looking for.

I too had shot an e-mail just a while back, and they have now changed the model number to ACM1H.

Thanks for the help everyone.

As I recall from discussion a ways back that there were some issues with the calibrated MIC's on some receivers and they replaced the original MIC with an updated unit - almost like a recall if you will....

Perhaps they will send you one...

That was Onkyo and they replaced some before Audyssey balked at the "silent" recall claiming that it was all a big mistake that was all blown out of proportion and no incorrect mics made it to the public and called an end to it. I'm not buying it. You may recall me complaining that in my opinion Audyssey sucked a while back... My Salks sounded awful with Audyssey on and my sub sucked wind. The only way to enjoy my system was with Audyssey off. Well during the brief silent recall Onkyo replaced my mic with a the correct ACH-1H and I suddenly became a huge Audyssey MultiEQ XT fan. As soon as I reran Audyssey with the new mic my system came to life and sounded wonderful. That's part of the reason that I canceled my plans to upgrade my sub.
