Marantz 8015 AVR Buggy; are these issues happening to you?

Brand new Marantz 8015 installed by Home Theater Video experts has annoying problems: 1) Amp set to play cable; it changed to HEOS 4 times. 2)Bluetooth reception is only solid for 2 foot range. 3) Often when changing sources the new source has no sound and you have to turn amp off and back on to get sound. 4) The CD input will not play blue ray. 5) The amp turns itself on when we are out of the room. 6) The amp switched from TV receiver to Airplay all by itself. 7) Two of the inputs switched sources. 8) The subwoofer stopped working; had to get a tech to come over and change a setting. Since these issues are intermittent the unit might test OK but in real life these bugs are annoying and unacceptable.

Maybe they're not so expert. Some possibilities:
1/ Are you using ARC feature or HDMI Control? Can't say I've seen HEOS come into play but I suppose possible.
2/ Bluetooth is limited in range, altho that seems short. Why not just use wifi?
3/ Sounds like hdmi handshake issues, not terribly uncommon between different brands/different hdmi implementations.
4/ The player would determine if a bluray can be played or not....not the input.....what player is it?
5/ That could be something to do with network or hdmi control, anything particular happening in other rooms with other electronics?
6/ See (1)
7/ Could be levels set too low for auto on on the sub amp to trigger....what did they do?

Most of us just deal with stuff rather than call someone. We might be able to help but you may need to be hands-on.

1) using Marantz remote control.4) Sony 5) I have a ceiling fan with a light that sometimes turns itself on; but when this happens the Marantz is not affected. 7) the tech set the amp for 2 subs and is works. Query: what is ARC?

Thanks for the reply.

ARC is audio return channel, returns audio from the tv over a single hdmi cable, often in conjunction with HDMI CEC use (HDMI Control). If you have stuff that turns on due other electronics I'd hunt that down, or its just ghosts, move! :)

ps never hurts to list make/model of gear you're using (tv, players, etc)

2. Many Marantz units (maybe all newer) have 2 antennas, are they securely screwed in place?
4. The cd input might be configured for another input, like the analogue inputs, check that in the input assign setup to make aure its set to the HDMI input you use.

I’ve had the SR8015 for about 3 months now and the problem I had with the AVR is the elephant in the room that plagues both the Marantz and the Denon brand. If your using more than one hdmi out , running a tv and a projector, the projector will have intermittent signal dropouts. After racking my brain and spending money on new cables and extender, I found removing the hdmi cable from the tv or unplugging the tv from the wall would solve the problem with the projector. I then bought a 1 in 2 out switcher/splitter which allows me to use 1 hdmi out on the back of the AVR instead of two and it solved the problem. From researching this problem, I found that it’s not a new issue with Marantz and denon. They put multiple hdmi outs on the back of Avr’s and don’t expect people to use more than one.

Would that be just something new for the newer models? I have been using all of the HDMI outs and never experienced such issues. Mine are the older AV8801 and AVR-X4400H.

I use my HDMI outs without issue and I have an even older AV8802A.

Not sure as of when this problem started or if it’s specific to tv’s and projectors but here’s some of the info I found.

For others reading this here is some information. Some Android based TV's will poll the av receiver they are attached to even when they are in standby. If you have a receiver that has two outputs and one is going to a pj and the other is going to a tv this will cause the cyclical drop out that some have experienced. On Sony tv's it's possible to alter a setting in them to stop this behaviour (can't remember which it was when i did it on my old A1OLED). Switching the TV off at the power socket stops it as well but is a bit over the top.... This behaviour affects not just Denon receivers. I have come across clients with other manufacturers units where the same thing has happened. The OP's problem does appear to be some sort of edid thing though but thought i'd mention this here as it might be useful in future if someone is searching for drop out fixes...

It's shocking that even now they can't seem to grasp that people may want to run more than one display off their devices and they still don't make allowances for the TVs polling the ports even in standby. It isn't like this has only just happened. The issue has been around for a long time.
