Marantz $1800 SR7007...two channels driving 8-ohm loads, reaches 1 percent distortion at 143.2 watts. Into 4 ohms, the amplifier reaches 1 percent distortion at 225.4 watts.

Response from the multichan- nel input to the speaker output measures –0.15 decibels at 10 hertz, –0.04 dB at 20 Hz, –0.10 dB at 20 kilohertz, and –3.33 dB at 50 kHz. THD+N from the CD input to the speaker output was less than 0.010 percent at 1 kHz when driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load. Crosstalk at 1 kHz driving 2.83 volts into an 8-ohm load was –76.65 dB left to right and –76.77 dB right to left. The signal-to-noise ratio with an 8-ohm load from 10 Hz to 24 kHz with “A” weighting was –98.75 dBrA.

Yet, the Marantz gets 5 stars audio performance, while the cheaper Denon gets 4 stars.

C'mon ADTG, haven't you figured out by now when it comes to audio, the more expensive a product is, the better it sounds? ;) :p :D

Besides, what are the sheeple going to look at first - how many stars something got or the actual measurements?

I'm not quite sure what Marantz's strategy as of late... there are other Denon models that have more features for less money. Would anyone besides a Marantz fan boy actually buy a SR7007 over a discounted 4311? I know I wouldn't.

Oh, yeah, I recall the 4311 for $1225 delivered and the 3312 for $550 delivered.

I just think its hilarious how identical the power measurements and the crosstalk measurements are between the Marantz and the 3312. It's like looking at the same amp.

Love that term sheeple. I bet it applies to a broad spectrum of audiophiles :p
No, I hear guys tell me the components must be the best since it says so in the conclusion of the review. And if I can't understand that, then English must not be my first language. :D

The Stars, the Conclusion, it's everything. :D

That's expected, its call hearsay, Marantz = sound quality, warm, powerful etc., Denon = Good for HT, not for serious music listening..

You and I don't go for hearsay but for scientific facts and figures that get us cross continents and some to the moon, but we are the minorities.:D

I subscribe to HT mag too, but only for their lab measurements. Even then, I am somewhat skeptical about how they did their measurements. As to what the reviewers says, to me they are naturally subjective and some what bias.
