Hi All

Is anyone familiar with the Marantz 7001 AV reciever.

In the manual when describing how to bi-amp using the multi-speaker/speaker c option there is also a note that reads

"You can use surround back speaker terminals as MULTI SPK. terminals or SPEAKER C terminal when you are not using surround back speakers."

Does this mean that I could use the Multi speaker terminals to bi-amp my fronts (with the speaker c switch on) and the surround back speaker terminals to bi-amp my surround speakers or centre speaker ?

Thanks for any imput.

What you would be doing is telling the receiver that instead of having rear surround ( the “7” in a 7.1 setup) you will use those two channels to bi-amp the front speakers. By doing so, you are limiting yourself to a 5.1 setup.

CraigV,

Excellent answer! To OP if you need more power have you thought about an external amp, such as a Behringer EP2500 Power Amplifier ?

I don't know about an EP2500 on a pair of speakers. One could blow the speakers easily. Plus you have to do a fan mod. If you want to push subs I think the ep2500 is great, but I don't know about it for your fronts. You would never run out of power though. :D
