Manual EQ Setup Question

Hi,

I was just wondering whether I'm doing the right thing in tweaking the Manual EQ Setup Settings on my Denon 3805, so my question is:

should I select the MANUAL OPTION (at Manual EQ Setup window) BEFORE start tweaking (boosting and/or cutting freq's)?

Or should I leave it at the pre-selected option (flat is the best for me) and run the adjustments?

Matter of fact, I couldn't find any info about that (manual, AH review & threads). Just want to be sure, because I hear a tremendous difference in sound between MANUAL & FLAT (far better), after tweaking with the freq's.

Believe it isn't a big issue, as your ears will decide at end, but just to know what right procedure is.

Any other tips on the above will be most welcome!
