Manfred Mann's "Soul of Mann (intrumentals)". Being re-released. Pre-order available at Amazon

I'm really giddy at the idea of getting these classic instrumentals from this era in a fresh package. (My vinyl is old and worn out) To most, memories from this era brings to mind the Civil rights movement and Vietnam conflict, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jefferson Airplane, CCR and the likes, with reason.

That said, Manfred Manns Jazzy instrumental covers of cult classic featuring Flutes, Xylophones and Wurlitzer keyboard sounds brought a rich, smooth sound to some of the most iconic tunes of the Sixties, and to me, nothing screams it's epoch quite like it. These instrumentals seem to convey the more "civilized" '60s; the rise of Hi-Fi and Stereo sound, The 1967 World Fair "Man and his world", the "space age", Big hulking monster cars, and, in a way, the apogee of the middle class. Though I was not of age to witness it, but many documentaries and TV shows about this era and the '67 world fair have etched the Soul of Mann's "sound" in my head.

I've actually added the upcoming release to my cart on Amazon, but I'm puzzled... The image shows "instumentals" on the cover, but the album name doesn't have "instrumentals" specified on the Amazon offering. Amazon divulges very little detail about this release, so we don't know whether it will be a new compilation, a re-issue of the old "Soul of Mann"

The "Soul of man" album I have here is a 1967 vintage LP. It was published as a blend of both mono and stereo recordings. Though Discogs doesn't have my edition on file, the equivalent release in the UK was (EMI ‎– 4989352). I'm hoping for the "old remaster" like the one used for "Manfred Mann - the complete collection vol 3" (EMI - TOCP-67112 ), or better yet, a completely new remaster, which could mean a SACD, DVD-A or some other Hi-Resolution release... (I'm really hoping for a Stereo SACD)

Just thought I'd share my thoughts about it.
