I have a quad II amp connected to a computer which is causing a ground loop. I've verified it is a ground loop by disconnecting everything not relevant, turning off the amp and plugging/unplugging the phono interconnect that goes to the computer. The only time I get a hum is when I plug it into the computers line out.
I've been told that if I cut the ground at the signal end (the stereo jack) then this will break the loop, stopping the hum. I've no experience building my own cables so came to ask about it here. Another thing I came across was adding a 100 ohm resistor to the stereo jack.
I'd really like to teach myself how to make my own phono interconnects so any help would be greatly appreciated!
