Major problem with my Integra DTR 7.8

Hi,

I just picked up my Integra DTR 7.8 and have a major problem - no audio seems to come out of my speaker outputs. I have never seen anything like this - I've tried multiple audio sources and still no audio from the speakers connections. I have confirmed that the speakers work though a separate amp and I can hear audio though the Integra 7.8 when I attach headphones to the unit. The Audyssey setup cannot run because it does gives an error saying that it cannot recognize any speakers attached to the 7.8.

I'm desperate - I've reviewed each of the settings in detail and none of them seem to make any difference. Any assistance would be appreciated.

What happens when you run the auto speaker set up?
You have to make sure you set the correct input source.

Hi,

i've set the input source and tied several different ones. I am assuming the input source is working as I can hear the audio though my headphones. The Audyssey setup says "Error : speaker not detected"

The unit is DOA.

I just bought the 7.8 acouple months ago, so I am very interested in your problem. I never mess with the automatic speaker setup, I fine tune to my ears later. What is your sound source, and how do you have it connected to your integra input. Have you assigned your speaker configuaration? If you hit the mute button accidentally? Do you see your speaker configuration on the front display, and in the 2. Speaker Setup, 2. speaker config menu. Make sure to cancel the automatic speaker setup while trouble shooting. I would bet it is not DOA, Integra is top of the line.

I downloaded the manual. I can find no scenario in which at least one speaker will not play. The speaker set up in on page 96 and pretty straight forward.

I would recommend the OP put his ear up close to the tweeters and see if there is a faint hiss. If there is not even a faint hiss then his amp section is DOA. We know his preamp/processor section works, and he has at least one input properly selected, as he can listen on phones.

I still think more likely than not his power amp section is DOA.

I think it is a stretch to call Integra "top of the line." And even if it were EVERY manufacturer has a percentage of DOA, and someone has to be the unlucky recipient of them.

May be there is an Integra user out there who is aware of an odd quirk that could cause this and not addressed in the manual.

I stand Corrected, your right!
Well we don't know the end of the story. We are yet to know if "the chump was stumped!" I hope the OP gives us feedback. We seem to get a lot of hit and run posts for help with problems at the moment.

I had a chap recently who needed an unavailable cable for his B & O turntable. I said I would make him one, and did. He only ever made one post and has never opened his PM. The price was right on the cable, free! Anyhow, its a handy cable so its, in my parts supplies. But some people!

I like sticking my neck out with technical problems. I know I won't get them all right, but it's fun.
