Unfortunately I have a center speaker that is not magnetically shielded. And the only best place to put it is on the top of my 37" direct view TV. What kind of material if any that I can put in between the bottom of the center speaker and the top of the TV to shield it and that will not affect the performance of both?

There is little you can do besides find another spot for the speaker or buy one that is shielded. Maybe use a wall mount bracket so the speaker is far enough away that it will not affect the display.
