Magnetar has shown(At European audio shows) a prototype of the "Ultima" $12,000 4K Blu-ray/CD/SACD/DVD-Audio & video player. There is no digital to analog converter. The power supply is powered by a pair of rechargable batteries. These units are visibly less rugged and sturdy than Magnetar's $3100 UDP-900 player. The Ultima costs 4 times the price of a UDP-900 and does less. If the "Ultima" is ever released and if it is ever distributed in the U.S.A., it will be totally pointless, but some rich "Audiophools" will buy it. The UDP-900 is superb and more than good enough for me. Even if the "Ultima" might test incrementally better than the UDP-900, these are differences that only dogs and cats can hear. My black and white "Tuxedo" cat (KitKat) doesn't like music and no Magnetar product will change her opinion.
