Magnepan level car audio speakers?

I am new to the forum and home audio, but am very familiar with car audio. Anyway, I just aquired a set of Magnepan SMGa's from my aunt for free. The left speaker doesn't have the highs of the right (need to be sent to Magnepan to be refubished), but that is beside the point here. I an currently building a system to put in my 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII. I was wondering if anyone knows of any car audio speakers that sound similar in quality to the Maggie's (in other words, clear, full mids and highs; if u have ever heard a set of maggies I assume u know what I am talkin 'bout). I want that in my car. I know that the maggie's r a completely different technology then what is used in car audio, but I am wanting the sound characteristics of the maggie's (or as close as I can get) for my car. any input would be appriciated. Thanks.

I'm really not sure how well dipolar speakers would work for a typical car installation.

There are plenty of ribbon tweeters available if you were interested in giving those a shot, though those aren't the same thing.

I have a set of relatively inexpensive Monsoon MM-700 magneplanar computer speakers that I bought without the amp/crossover/woofer they include originally (according to Wikipedia, the driver was licensed from Eminent Technologies). I ran them straight from my cheapish Audiosource amplifier as an experiment; they did manage to put the amp into protection mode after a couple of minutes (it didn't get hot, but their impedance was likely dipping pretty low). They're meant to be crossed over at 250 Hz apparently. Predictably there's little bass but they sound pretty nice otherwise.

Apparently they're not made any more and I've heard claims they're hard to find (I stumbled upon them used). If you find a price like I did, they might make an interesting experiment.

Im not so sure that any ribbon type speaker would be a good match for car audio, ribbons tend to be quite fragile & most likely wouldnt be able to handle the constant jarring from the road, also maggies & speakers like them tend to be extremely placement specific with small sweet spots.

I would think looking to manufacturers with good component systems like boston accoustics or diamond audio would be your best bet.
