I have an older Magnavox Saround sound stereo. I didn't know what I was doing and hooked up a car 12" sub woofer. Now the bass channel no longer works. At first it was hit and miss but now its gone completely. I think it is safe to say the bass amp has blown. If this is the case where can I get the part and how hard would it be to change? I can soulder is that all that is involved? Should I do any test first to see if my assumption is correct or should that be a given in the situation?

Is this thing such a POS no one can help or is this the wrong type of DIY question?

Stroker, I think you may be right about that assumption. I think you actually did blow your bass channel. It's only a matter of time before the non-bass channels will start going out on you.
