My 4th grader niece has a fund raising campaign again for her school. This time is not cookies or gift wrappers. Its a magazine subscription. (Paper magazines not online magazine like Audioholics). I really dont want to buy anything since I really dont have time to read it. Also, I can get most of the information online for free. But I dont want her to think that I am a cheapo and not wanting to help her & her school fund raising drive. The funds will help the school to purchase new computers, softwares, sports equipment, books, art supplies, etc which the tax money cannot afford. YEAH RIGHT. But anyway, my wife picked up one on the list for her hobby, Home & Garden. Now I am going to pick up one for my new hobby, AV stuff. Helping my niece out and at the same time I can get some more good information about my new hobby besides on this forum. They have:

Home Theater
Home Entertainment
Audiophile
Stereophile
Sound & Vision
Electronic House

Which one of those that gives a lot of unbiased information and reviews. I dont care if they have Bose speaker ads, Im not buying it anyway. Or anything else that you guys suggest that is not on the list on top but they may have it.

I personally like Home Theater.

The reviews are good and thorough. Best part is the mag is cheap to renew.

Of the magazines listed, I subscribe to Home Theater, Sound and Vision, and Stereophile. Stereophile is geared more towards the "audiophile" type of person. I like all three, but enjoy reading Home Theater the most. And being a Mystery Science Theater 3000 fan, I get a kick out of the articles that Mike Nelson write on the last page of each issue.

Shame they don't have TAS. I like Home Theater, even Stereophile is occasionally amusing (and pretty cheap).

It’s your nice! Order a magazine. If you are into sports order a sports magazine. If you want informed non biased educated audio/video journalism and reviews there really is only one source for that.

I like to read some of these magazines, too, but what really kills my opinion of their reviews is the esoteric cable stories. Reading these reviews in Stereophile really destroys any credibility they might otherwise posess. Makes me wonder what these guys are smoking...

I subscribe to Home Theater and Sound and Vision.
I think both have a higher info versus advertising ratio, meaning the ads vs. articles.
I am also a beer and pizza guy and stay away from mags that tend to focus on the "elite" lines of gear that are more in the line of " the Donald" type of sales.

Audioholics is the best source
But there's one seat in the house that a man needs a magazine.
A computer just doesn't work out in there.
