Made a blueprint of my room where my subwoofer would go. Am I doing this right?

Hi everyone this is my first post. Im fairly new to the audio world but I am very eager to learn how to put together my own personal home theater for my computer. Ive purchased many different computer speakers and not surprisingly they were all crap. So now im looking for a real audio system. But first I want to see if I can even put one in my room. Can you please tell me how this looks?:

Welcome to the forum!

From the front, that looks just fine. An overhead diagram might also be useful for us to see - but your setup is very similar to mine (except that I'm using computer speakers that came with a small sub). Audioholics has some nice articles in the Tips & Tricks section, including information on subwoofers.

Hey there and thanks for the swift reply. Just did a quick sketch of the overhead of my room:

So how does everything look so far?

PS I heard it was bad to put the sub near my PC so that's why its not in the corner

You wouldn't want to place a powerful sub next to a computer. The sub's magnet could screw up with the storage and memory. Also, if you have a disk drive, sound pressure waves could vibrate the case and cause writing errors. Many subs can be safely placed near a PC though, because they are relatively weak. I am sure any sub coming from a HtiB wouldn't cause any problems. What sub are you using?

I haven't decided on the model of the subwoofer just yet as i am still doing my research. I know that i will be going with either a 10" polk audio or a Dayton 12". Both pretty powerful subs so i guess i should definitely keep it away from my computer. Is the placement in the first diagram going to cause any problems?

I don't believe so. That would have to be one powerful speaker magnet in the sub to affect a drive on the other side of your desk. :)

Between those subs I would swing for the Dayton.
