I just felt like clarifying, after reading about the new line of M&K subwoofers. Yes, M&K did come up with the subwoofer. It was called the volkswoofer. It was in vented by thee guru himself, Ken Kreisel. The M in M&K is that of Mr. Miller, who ran a high end audio store in Beverly Hills. Where Ken worked, before preparing to head to pre-med at Stanford. Long story short, he obviously skipped becoming a doctor, and instead developed the subwoofer. And as they say the rest is history. The M&K of today is... not the same. It is name only, which Ken sold when he was forced to shut down. (Chinese knockoffs were the ultimate killer!) He is up and running and designing and building subs. Absolute brutes! He's a brilliant man. What I love the most is, shoot him an email, and it's actually him, who responds back! If you ever get a moment, Google him. It will blow your mind what he has contributed to the audio world.
