This is my first post here and I'm in need of some help. I have a set of M&K Satellite 1B speakers in walnut with the M&K stands that were sold with these. I'm the original owner and I use them with the two M&K Volkswoofer 2B subwoofers and the M&K LP1- passive electronic crossover rack-mount unit. The woofers are both the "european" model, or so I was told at the time of purchase (around 1984-5) and have glass tops on them.
The foam surrounds on the subwoofers are shot. I don't know if I want to repair the foam or replace the dvc drivers in the units at this point, so I thought I'd ask you all.
The satellites are OK but in one unit I have a small dimple in one of the tweeter domes and the other tweeter has developed a small crack in the "square" front bezel of the tweeter that provides the 4 mounting holes to screw the unit to the cabinet. The tweeters are Vifa D25 TG-1 33/84 units rated at 6 ohms.
I bought all this stuff eons ago along with a Carver M1.5t amp, Carver C1 pre-amp, and an ADS CD3 cd player. I have equivalent quality vintage tuner, turntable, and cartridge to go along with this stuff, so I'm quite interested in getting these M&K speakers all fixed up.
I have no clue what can replace the vifa tweeters nor what would be a good driver to replace the original dvc units in the Volkswoofers... but I'm reasonably sure someone here will.
