M cable

I was browsing through another forum, and came upon this link,

That M cable company is so litiginous it is suing a mom and pop clothing store for using the M word. For fear of their lawyers knocking on my doors, I'll just use the letter M here to refer to that company.

The audio/video cable industry is getting WAY out of hand. Those copper wires cost pennies per ft if not less. Those profit margins are at least several hundred percent if not more. And I don't even want to think about what kind of profit margins Nordost, Tara labs, and other more esoteric "audiophile" grade cable manufacturers are making.

This is a sad sad sad state of affairs.

What's wrong with spending just $10 on some decent RCA cables?

I just bought Philips DVD player for $66. If I had to buy those M cables, I would have to dish out at least $100 for audio and video cables, MORE than what I spent on that DVD player. This is just shameful.

Rants aside, are there any alternative video/audio cables out there?

Every notice whenever I speak of a certain speaker company who's name is a four letter word, I always call them B(l)ose? Same reason! Maybe it'll throw their lawyers off my scent!

go down to Walmart and look for something like this:

you can check the site and see what other specific cables are available.

I spent about $ 50 total to replace the in-box cords for my DVD (component), laser disk (stereo plus composite video) and VCR (stereo plus composite video), or about half the cost of just one set of M cables...

and they made a big improvement. Now I can read all the little buttons on the cab in Fifth Element, all the computer read-outs in Resident Evil, and can actually hear James Spader speak words in Stargate...

the cables are well-constructed, with gold-plated contacts and good strain relief, and look great as well, being thick and solid and have clear insulation, so you can see down to the braided shielding.
