Hi there

I was hoping for some advice. I'm required to down size my big black floor standing speakers, wifs orders. So I suggest up grade the whole lot, it worked, brillant. So I got my Denon 3806, now the speakers. Lets just say I'm bloody confused.

A budget in the low $2000 has been agreed upon, dinner cooked by me for 2 weeks, good deal I think. So I require a 5.1 bookself system as I'm not a fan of cubes. Clarity and sub are very importmant, that obvious. The room is about 1800c/f.

Help me Audioholics, your my only hope.

For really good complete 5.1 speaker packages check out Aperion, Axiom, Energy, rbh, B&W, Polk Audio, Klipsch, Totem, Paradigm, NHT, Def Tech, SVS, just to name a few. That's enough to get you headed in the right direction. Have fun & definetely take your time & listen, listen, & listen some more. You'll know when the sound is right for you.

I second the SVS SBS system. Although many companys have equally good bookshelf speakers, none of the subwoofers will compare.

For $2000 you could hire yourself a really good attorney, keep your beloved speakers, and be much happier down the road...

The Axiom Audio M22 bookshelf speakers have been given lots of praise in the forums as have the QS8's. I can vouch for the quality of the QS8's and Vp150 center from personal experience. So you can go for a setup like this,

Pair M22 = $440.00
Pair QS8 = $500.00
VP150 = $385.00

Total = $1325.00

EDIT: Forgot that you wanted the ".1" also. I would recommend saving up for a sub and purchasing it seperately, rather than getting the complete 5.1 package and sacrificing on quality.

This is a repost, my original got lost.

Check out the Wharfedale Evo 8 or 10. Real wood veneer in black, rosewood, or maple (definitely high Wife approval factor). You can get the evo 10, Evo Center, Evo DFS, and the Hsu VTF2 for right at 2 grand. This set-up would look great, and sound awesome. Wharfedale even makes some good looking stands to put them on.

I agree with sokrman about the quality of the Monitor Audio as well. The silver line is great, and the bronze line is good. I would probably look at the Radius line before the bronze, though. Radius has more wife appeal in the design and real wood instead of the vinyl on the Bronze.
