I installed this system just in time for the Olympics: Samsung 4681 lcd tv; Onkyo SR606 receiver; Sony PS3; JBL CS480 5.1 speakers; Comcast HD cable.
To my eyes and ears, the picture and sound has been just unbelievable; amazing. Two months of real delight.
Then a few days ago while watching tv, there was a loud pop and no more sound at all although the receiver, cable box and tv all stayed powered up and the picture was fine. Still no sound when I turned everything off and then on again. But when I turn the system off for a while, 30 minutes or more, everything will be fine and the sound will be OK for some period of time until another loud pop and no more sound. Same problem occurs when playing a movie thru the PS3. Perfect picture and sound for an hour or so then a loud pop and no sound although picture continues without problem.
I've double-checked connections and the receiver/tv/speaker set-up as per the several manuals. I've also checked for advice in the trouble-shooting sections of the manuals. No help there. The problem remains and now seems to occur within an hour of turning on the system.
I'm wondering if perhaps there are some things that I should be checking or doing that might be causing my problem which aren't obvious to a novice like myself. Could there be a problem with the Onkyo?
