Just looking for some suggestions before taking everything apart and re-hooking up the system wire by wire...

The problem is that I keep losing volume (db's) in various channels in a 5.1 setup. Two days ago, I lost 8-10db's in my center channel to the point I could barely hear it. I ran the SPL meter and all other channels were at 75db, except for the center. I could barely reach 75db when maxing the center channel level out. I turned the receiver and amplifier off, unhooked all the preout wires and re-hooked them up....problem was solved (temporarily). Today, it is my left-surround that lost 8-10db's of volume....

Any ideas on where to start: Blue Jean Cable interconnects? Yamaha receiver? Emotiva UPA-5 (No red lights on display)?

Took the Emotiva out of the equation and I'm no longer experiencing volume drop off. Time to contact customer service.

I would eliminate all the easy stuff first.

1) Could be the RCA cable you're using to feed the center channel. Try swapping the receiver->amp center channel interconnect with one from another channel.

2) Could also be the preamp output on the receiver. Feed the center channel output to a different input on the amp and feed the original center amp channel with another input.
