Loose HDMI cable connection

The hdmi cable to my display is constantly coming loose with the result of losing the picture. If anything bumps the cable or the set the cable will shake loose. I know this is a known problem with the spec (NO WAY TO SECURE THE CABLE). I do not have a DVI connector, so that is not an option. The HDMI connction is recessed in the back of the set, and I have tried taping with electrical tape with little effect.
Any suggestions for obtaining a more secure connection is much appreciated.

There are companies that sell a pigtail into which you connect the main cable. The idea is to reduce the stress on the connector so it is not easily dislodged.

I can't give any direct links, but I know they exist. Maybe try partsexpress.com.

Loose HDMI connection.

I have the same situation with a Toshiba upconverting DVD. It drives me up the frikkin' wall when I turn the TV to DVD and all I get a blank screen.

...particurarly when I have guests over to check it out.

Surprisingly, the other end is on a Toshiba 32" LCD doesn't seem to have this issue.

Mine never really come loose but I hate the design which can easily come dislodged!

Whoever came up with the HDMI plug needs to be kicked in the head.

It would have been so easy to put a couple of spring clips on the sides the way a lot of cell phone accessory cords use. But no. Gr.

I went to the HDMI.com website and submitted a request for a mechanism to secure HDMI cable to equipment connectors in the next verion of the spec via the "Contact" page. Probably won't result in anything, but maybe if everyone here makes the same request...
Won't do any good for the current generationn of products, but you have to start the ball rolling at some point.
